Tanner Zeolia
I know why the ocean
sings the lonely tune of the forgotten
I know why the cry of
a soul isn’t heard from within, it heard on the outside
I know that loneliness
can be cured and liberated from love
I know why depression
kills and why it claims the lives of the forsaken
I don't know why I’m
plagued with the curse of never knowing how I feel
Freedom is found when
you get out of the trap you put yourself in
I know now that if you’re
loved you are also prone to be heartbroken at least once
Flying away from your
destiny is the most naive mistake that can be made
I know now flying
away from your problems can lead to disappointment and aggravation.
I know why you die a
little inside when the love of your live doesn’t love you anymore

So many beautiful, powerful, heart-twisting lines here, Tanner. That's the thing about life--the older you get the more freedom you have and the more you know, but the more you know the more you hurt.
ReplyDeleteHi, Tanner! This poem was beautifully sad, and it brought tears to my eyes. I love how you wrote it about things in every person’s life that can be related to, even if they may not want it to be related to them. I especially loved the line, “I know that loneliness can be cured and liberated from love.” I feel like this is a more hopeful line in your beautifully sad poem, because you are saying that you know the cure for loneliness: love. I think that this love could come from anywhere in a person’s life (friends, family, loved ones, etc.), and this love will “set them free.” I also find the line, “I know why the cry of a soul isn’t heard from within, it heard on the outside” quite relatable. If there is a person who is hurting, they must show it from the outside. If this person keeps everything bottled up inside, no one will be able to help them. Fantastic poem!
